Germany chooses retro look for World Cup
BERLIN, March 25 (Reuters) - Germany have turned to their glorious past for inspiration while choosing their kits for the World Cup finals starting May 31 in South Korea and Japan.
The players will wear white shirts with black stripes on the sleeves, black shorts and white socks -- an outfit very similar to that worn by Germany teams at the 1966 and 1970 tournaments, where they reached the final and semifinals respectively.
The new kits, which were presented on Monday, will be sported by the three-time world champions in their friendly with the United States on Wednesday in Rostock.
The Germans, who had been playing away matches in green lately, have a new away kit as well with metal grey shirts, white shorts and grey socks.
